Course fee

The course fee covers the period from 9 to 19 of June and includes:

The course fee depends on the accommodation option:

Children under age 5 are not charged any fee provided that they share a bed in hotel with the main participant and do not get a separate meal in the restaurants.

The fee is lower than the real cost, as the Centre is subsidized by several public institutions.

Due to high real inflation in Italy that happened after the course fee has been fixed more than a year ago, the Center might need to charge a separate fee for an excursion or a banquet. This will become clear in the future when the budget of the conference will be determined.

Lodging

Accommodation is arranged by the Centre either in the Centre's structures or in hotels which are situated within a walking distance.

Meals

Breakfasts can be taken in hotels or in the Centre. Lunches and dinners can be taken in any of many restaurants that have an agreement with the Centre. They are included in the conference fee with the exception of drinks. Therefore the only thing one has to pay at restaurants are the drinks, which (mineral water and house wine) are inexpensive.

Discounts for shorter stays

It is in the tradition of the Center that participants stay during the whole course period (June 9-19). The idea is to favour scientific exchanges in relaxed conditions. Participants who do not stay for the whole period of the Course would get a discount of 5% (five percent) of the Course Fee for each day that they are not present in Erice.

An example of a course fee calculation

A main participant comes with his wife and son under age 5, brings along two children (both over age 5) and mother-in-law. He reserves a DOUBLE room for himself, spouse and son (who shares a bed with either farther or mother), a DOUBLE room for his grown-up children, and a SINGLE room for his mother-in-law. The total course fee due by this participant is 2 times 1500 Euro (for two DOUBLE rooms) plus 1000 Euro (for the SINGLE room occupied by mother-in-law), i.e., a total of 4000 Euro. Everyone except the son under age 5 is entitled to separate meals in the restaurants.

If this participant and all his accompanying persons arrive to Erice on June 10 (one day later) and depart Erice on June 17 (two days earlier), then the whole group is entitled to a discount of 4000 Euro times 5% times 3 days = 600 Euro. The Course Fee due in this case is 3400 Euro.
